I have a feeling you didn't want to draw a hundred different types of persons so you just made pink, bald stick figures to fill the space.
I should know. I recently had to do that and didn't want to so I just made black figures.

Well I have an excuse here; it's just a hologram, probably of a promotional "illustration" for the mall rather than a live-action shot of it. But yeah, it actually took me a really long time just to draw this if you can believe it.
And uh... I can't even begin to guess what emotion that's supposed to be :P

Rate Sakana on The Fabler beta!
Hey guys, if you've got a few minutes to spare and are in a helpful kind of mood, head on over to this link and take the time to rate my comic! I've uploaded the published pages of Sakana No Sadness to this comic-sharing website called The Fabler. It seems to be just starting up, but it looks like it could be a good resource and a cool place to get a bit of extra exposure.
You do need to register there in order to vote (as is usually the case), but it's a fast and simple process, and if you have no further interest in the site you can later just forget you ever registered. You don't have to, but I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to do this, because it really does help (it even increases the chance of this comic winning a sweet contest they have going on).
You'll notice there are currently two "issues" of Sakana listed (the site seems to cater to comic book series that have issues, so I'm using chapters to divide it up). Be sure to rate both of them if you decide to vote! Again here is the link: [click me!] Cheers guys, and thanks for your support and readership! :)

I have voted and gave the best marks possible. Keep up the good work = your style of drawing is very similar to one of our very old artists (Zeljko Pahek) - and I love it.

Apply to join SpiderForest starting July 1st!
Hey everyone, if you're a fellow Web comic author, this message is for you. The SpiderForest comic collective will be accepting applications during the month of July, from the 1st up until the 24th day of the month. This is a bi-annual event where you can submit an application, and then all the members of the collective vote on new members to accept. You can read all the details and guidelines as to what we're looking for on this page.
I really do recommend applying if you're at all inclined to do so, because it's really a great little community full of awesome, highly supportive people. You also get lots of perks, such as free hosting (if needed) along with any technical support and Website building help you may want. You also get a good amount of exposure on other members' sites (in the form of cross-promotional projects like you've already seen me participate in, as well as constant free advertising).
So to reiterate, anybody interested should go here: Apply now!
Cheers and good luck!

June update (plus a new way to subscribe to Sakana)
I think it just felt kind of wrong to go this long without a news update of some kind. I've realized that I'm a lot quieter than most Web comic authors... Many of them seem to like to include multi-paragraph blog-like entries with each comic update they put out. I'm not inclined to do that in general, and since my site isn't set up in a way that forces me to include text along with each comic page (like it would if I were running Wordpress, I think), I tend to let my work speak for itself. But every once in a while I still like to get on here and just blab about what I've been up to.
So as far as the comic goes, all is well, no sudden hiatus is likely in the future (unlike my old comic, which I'll admit was riddled with them... but I've taken a few lessons from that experience). Most of my free time nowadays is spent trying to get as far ahead into chapter 2 as possible. I'm really personally pleased with some of the pages I have ready that are coming up in the next few weeks. The overall look of this chapter is going to be a little bit different from the first (mainly due to change of setting), and you may also start to see some more interesting panel shapes and page layouts. I'm sure that nobody will be disappointed, and I'm not just saying that.
A couple of new website features are worth mentioning as well. You can now subscribe to get comic update notifications by email (only for comic pages, as sending these news posts to your mailbox would make me something of a spammer). The "subscribe" button, which is under all comic pages as well as the archive, has been redesigned and now includes the option to subscribe via email. And as some of you have surely noticed, there is now a countdown to the next comic page viewable when you try to "turn the page" on the most recent one.
So that's about it for now. Cheers!
